Archery

The bow was often the medieval man’s most important weapon. It enabled him to feed his family and defend his home. As the archers at Agincourt proved, it rapidly became an essential element of the arts of war.

SCA archery emphasizes the importance of both speed and accuracy. Using only that equipment known before 1600 (the long bow and the cross bow – no compound bows allowed) Society archers compete against one another in contests that emulate the training a medieval archer would have received. And Society archery has no age limit – its a wonderful way for those under 18 to participate.

Local archery practice takes place on a regular basis during warm weather. Please contact Encoded, for more information.
